About Me

Last year, several weeks after our wedding, my husband was offered a position with the US Foreign Service. Almost a year later we packed up our house and moved with our dogs to Togo, West Africa, for our first assignment abroad. We will be here 2 wonderful years while we get to explore the country, eat good food and pursue our interests!

Just before we left for Togo, I graduated with a MPH and then worked towards a certificate in biomedical sciences. During that time I worked with an awesome biotechnology outreach program and volunteered with Planned Parenthood and Southern Arizona AIDS Foundation, among others. I did all of my master's research on neonatal vitamin A supplements on-site in Maharashtra, India and before that served in the Peace Corps in Guinea, West Africa as a chemistry teacher and health center volunteer.  During my undergrad I worked on an HIV inhibitor in a biochemistry lab at the University of Arizona.

Needless to say, my interests are incredibly varied. While I'm here I will try to post as often as I can about global health, nutritional epidemiology, infectious disease epidemiology, reproductive health (and rights!), HIV/AIDS, science education, biotechnology, genetics, vaccinations, immunology, data analysis, and living abroad. A lot of these posts will be Togo-specific, and some won't. In reality, I'll probably post a lot of photos.

Please feel free to message me if you have any ideas or questions!
